Don’t be deceived – You can succeed without God!

There are enough examples of people around you who do not believe in God but are celebrated and there are many who do believe and are also celebrated. It is clear that believing in God (or a god) is not a requirement for success in life. Life is full of laws; these laws are principles and they do not fail. If you understand the laws of success and conscientiously apply them, you are more likely to succeed in life. You may attribute your success to divine help but in the real sense, it is just the way you choose to see it most times. This write-up is not about whether there is a God as I have written about that in another series titled; “Is there a God”, this is about success in life and expectations.

Generally, man is an organism of faith. We live by faith from day to day. Life is lived to the full only when one is full of hope and one takes steps daily toward making that hope a reality. True faith is expressed by working towards making an object of hope a reality. Each goal set, each plan written, and every objective followed towards fulfilling them is an act of faith. We tend to want to believe in ‘a god’ to improve our assurance (sort of increase our faith) that things will go well or as planned. deceved 2

God created this world and established laws and principles to govern the workings thereof. If a man discovers those laws and works according to them or realizes how to make them work in his favor, such will more than often succeed in what he does. What makes people fail or succeed is within them and not much of the outside. Therefore, if the primary reason you have decided to believe in God is because of the fear of failure, you have missed it from the beginning. Stop limiting yourself, spread your wings, and fly, God’s ways are automated. You were brought to this world in the first place to succeed. Your success gives credibility to the creator whether you acknowledge him or not.

Why must you believe in God? Only one reason; to be fulfilled. To be successful is not the same as being fulfilled. The definition of success depends on your person, location, values, culture, or exposure. By the time you achieve what you defined as your goal or what is valued in your society as excellent, you are considered a success. However, there are many successful people who are not fulfilled. They revel in the glory of their success for a while but that fizzles out with time. Several renowned billionaires, sportsmen, politicians, clergy, and scientists are not satisfied with life. They discovered that their satisfaction was not found in what they considered a success. That is the reason why after they have attained the riches, they become philanthropists, and set up foundations and trusts with the hope of giving back. There is a strong urge in every man to give out something that will solve a problem in other people’s lives. In other words, you are only fulfilled when you have succeeded with your life purpose.

If there was a God who created this world and who saw it fit to bring you in here, there must be a purpose in his mind for you to accomplish. You have a role in our world, something to do to solve a problem and contribute to the welfare of our world. Your role may be to your family, your town, your city, your country, your continent, or the whole world. As a mother, your fulfillment may be in raising a great son and not in a thousand dollars. Thus, believing in God should be to get acquainted with his purpose for your life and to accomplish it. The caveat is this; His purpose may not be exactly what is tagged as a success by others around you. It is only at the end of it all that you are celebrated. Blessed are you if your affluence or wealth is closely associated with fulfilling your divine purpose. So, do not bother believing in God except you are ready to discover your purpose and fulfill it.

deceivedOn a final note, I have written that you can succeed without God. That is true. The fallacy is to think that you will. There is a chance you may not.
