DO NOT BE DECEIVED, LIFE IS NOT SHORT, LIFE IS A MARATHON!
Life first appears like a sprint.
Soon after birth, the little baby opens his eyes. Within 6 weeks, he is able to follow light with his eyes. A baby is able to hold the neck upright within three months and by the sixth month, he is already sitting up. At nine months, he already has at least three teeth, is crawling and perhaps standing. At one year, he is already babbling and possibly walking. So much happens in the first two years of life. A child is already half his adult height by two years. However life does not continue like that forever. Soon life slows down.
With time the child soon loses his/her spontaneity as reality sets in. As he begins to move around in an adventurous manner, repeated spanking makes him realize there are limitations in life.
From that moment, life becomes a marathon. The little child begins to have desires that must take a process to accomplish. Food that used to be ‘instant’ (breast milk, cereals) now needs to be cooked first. He begins to realize that whatever is important must undergo an enduring process. To fit into society, he has to go to school. To drive, he must grow up. To swim, he must be tutored. He realizes that there are procedures to follow and outlined steps to adhere to in everything that must have credit in life.
The Society that encourages the discipline and process of training develop faster than those that encourage short circuiting and mediocrity.
Almost every person who gets to the top in a flash ends up like fireworks.
Those who get to the top earlier must have started up earlier than others. Individual speed may vary but anyone who does not pass through due process is soon known as a fake. Nobody wants to buy fake gold! The dross must be out!!
It takes plenty years from childhood to graduate out of college (6+3+3+4 and still counting). Legal studies and medical education takes even longer.
Patience is a virtue which everyone needs to learn to get to the top.
Life is a marathon, nor a sprint. Take your time to submit to the discipline of time if you must achieve something worthwhile.
An expert is said to have practiced about a thousand times. Must have discovered all the ways ‘not to fail’ before mastering the ‘best’ ways. At that point the reward comes effortlessly.
What it takes to get to the top is eventually what it takes to keep you there. If you get to the top in a hurry today, we may as well not bother to look for you tomorrow.
Well known facts; it takes a minimum of 3 years to learn all the tricks of a trade/profession. Any rudimentary form of training that takes less than three years rarely produces experts. It takes 2-5 years for most businesses to get established.
LIFE IS A MARATHON! WITH PATIENCE AND DISCIPLINE YOU WILL GET TO THE TOP!! NO WONDER WHY LIFE BEGINS AT FORTY!!!
