Don’t be deceived – Believing God may be a burden you are not ready to bear!
This issue of God is a subject many youths have come to abhor and to avoid. This is because several of them see the idea as an unnecessary burden. First and foremost, they have noticed inconsistencies in expectations and outcome. It also seems if there was even a God, he has since slept off and left us all to ourselves. Believing in God always brings up the issue of living up to a standard, having certain restrictions and sometimes being treated as an outcast.
Several individuals have become a threat to the world because of acts of violence in the pretext of trying to do God’s will. Believing in God automatically entails accepting the existence of the devil thus instilling more of fear rather than confidence in the hearts of men because men drift towards what they fear. Accepting the existence of the creator has its consequences. Worse still, when men are deceived and led astray by certain prophets/clergy who claim to know God and his power. Such events are met with public outrage. So, do not be deceived, believing in God has consequences.![]()
Therefore, realize that to believe in God means you must be ready to get acquainted with Him. Do not seek God because you need solution to a problem neither out of fear nor compulsion rather seek to know His ways. Only those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits (1). It is dangerous to believe in a God you do not have a personal knowledge of. Others may point him to you, but you must work hard at getting to know him (2).
Do not bother to believe in God if you have not come to love him. The first commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul, your mind and your strength (3). To love God begins with acknowledging/ appreciating his love for you. To love God is enmity with the way and manner of this world (4). For example, our world claim to love the truth but persecute those who stand up for the truth. The world generally drifts towards lowering standards and accepting that there are no absolutes but accepting God is accepting his laws as sacrosanct with no shades of grey.
Believing in God would take something from you. We are all full of garbage. Most often, we are not aware of it as we place much value on such garbage. God takes away from us many things we value and replaces those values with what he values. Mind you, on the long run, we are better off for it but the process is not often palatable.
This (“Don’t be deceived” series) is written to shake your values and bring you into certain realities about God. He is not a tool, nor a computer program to grant all your wish or solve your problems. Rather he is the source of all there is and knowing him is meant to completely take over your life and make you fulfill your life’s purpose. Are you ready to believe in God?
Do not believe in God who you do not love
Believing God will take something from you
