If there was an object, an individual, a force, a formless substance, an intelligent mind, a mother universe who created this world and coordinates the affairs therefore, could it be that “He” has changed?

Perhaps he is no longer in charge, perhaps he has become too old or too weak, or he has just become senile and no longer has the capacity to coordinate what goes on with his creation.

Yet he said according to the Holy Scriptures,”I am the Lord, I change not!”1

Barrister Paul also said in his writings; “Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever” 2

God does not change but…..

He does change his plans.

God does not change his purpose but he does sometimes have to change his method of achieving them.

Long time ago he promised the patriarch Abraham that even though his descendants would go into slavery in egypt for 400 years, they would come out of the Land victorious and would return to Canaan to possess it as an inheritance. When it was 350years, God sent a deliverer called Moses. At the age of 40years (390th year), Moses was impatient. He knew his purpose but was out of timing. An attempt to defend his brethren got him into trouble. He had to flee Egypt and it seemed God’s plan had been aborted. Yet, after proper training and when Moses was ready God brought him back to fulfil his purpose. It was now 430 years but God was faithful. He fulfilled his promise.

Though they were out of Egypt, Egypt was still in their hearts. They did not know the God of their fathers nor understood his ways, they had lived in slavery and knew not what it meant to be free. They did not believe God. They knew not that the Almighty God could do all that he promised and that without faith it was impossible to please God, therefore God was constantly angry with the generation which left Egypt. God’s purpose was to get them to Canaan as a nation under God, covenant children, a nation of priests who will show forth God’s praise.

In His wrath, God destroyed that generation which came out of Egypt but got Israel into Canaan. Who got into Canaan? The Descendants of Abraham. Who left Egypt? The descendants of Abraham.

If you believe in God and His word, you must learn his ways. If you learn his ways, your path through life will be smooth. If not, though it may be long, it may be crooked, it may be tortuous, ultimately God will fulfill his purpose and plans for your life.

Why God changes his plan.

  1. In order to fulfill his purpose in spite of man’s error or disobedience.
  2. He is committed to fulfilling his promises for man who most times has to be in partnership with God for its fulfillment.
  3. Once God speaks, His integrity is committed to bring it to pass.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Number 23:19
